About Me
I am Christina Murray, a Lead Professional Counselor at Stepping Stones to Success Counseling, with over 15 years of experience in providing empathetic and effective counseling to men, women, and teens. My areas of expertise include anxiety, depression, LGBTQIA issues, communication problems, conflict resolution, and abuse/trauma recovery. I hold a Master’s of Science in Community Agency Counseling from Jacksonville State University and a Bachelor’s of Arts in Sociology from The University of South Alabama.
Over the last decade, I have honed my skills in addressing mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, adjustment disorder, bipolar disorder, behavior problems, and psychotic disorders. My work with troubled and at-risk adolescents has involved innovative community-based and family-focused therapeutic services. Currently, I am also engaged in providing mental health services to individuals in geriatric long-term care facilities.
As a passionate advocate for the LGBTQIA population and other minority groups, I strive to assist my clients in coping with discrimination, oppression, and the challenges of coming out to family, all while helping them discover and affirm their authentic selves against societal expectations. I utilize a client-centered and cognitive-behavioral approach in therapy, aiming to empower individuals to surmount personal obstacles, identify strengths, improve relationships, and develop effective problem-solving skills.
In addition to my professional pursuits, I am EMDRPT-II trained and a Licensed Professional Counselor, which enhances my ability to provide specialized care in trauma and stress recovery. Outside of work, I enjoy spending quality time with my family and maintaining a healthy lifestyle through challenging fitness goals.
